Puzzles and Pastimes for Kids Ages 6-8

From the sea to inside a nuraghe, twenty-two places on one island.

The beach and the dunes, the caves in the rock, the lagoon pink with flamingos, the cork oaks, the shepherd and his sheep, the bread and the cheese, the wooden masks that parade in January and the square where they dance in a circle. Ninety puzzles to cross Sardinia, and twenty-two stories to read beside the crosswords.

Why read it

Adventure

Every few puzzles, a square with a red border hides a letter. The letters you collect spell out the treasure message: the book isn't a pile of exercises, it's one story to walk through.

Mystery

Five different kinds of puzzle — word searches, crosswords, mazes, sudoku, secret codes — that take turns and get harder page after page, from rookie to champion.

Independence

Big squares made for small hands, words a child that age can already read, and all the answers at the back: they can check their own work without asking.

Real pages, not mockups

Look inside the book

On the left, a story to read, with the words in colour; on the right, the crossword built from those same words. There are twenty-two pairs like this in the book.

Sardinia
  • The reading page — Sardinia

    The reading page

A full-colour illustrated story for every crossword.

  • The word search — Sardinia

Ninety puzzles, five kinds, difficulty that grows
